Hounslow Community Funeral Service

Set-up by the London Borough of Hounslow, the Community Funeral Service was created to ensure availability for the funeral of a resident of the area. The service helps people receive a dignified and simple funeral at a fixed price and is open for all to use.

The fixed price of the service is £1300 which can change so please contact them for updated information. This price covers the collection of the deceased, dressing and ritual washing, arrangements (but not costs) of crematoriums or cemeteries within 5 miles of the borough, a hearse for the deceased and a lined veneer coffin with handles. Extras and additional needs will require extra payment.

If the price is high it is possible to apply for a social fund from the Job Centre, although the financial help is limited. In order to do this, you will need to be claiming one of the following benefits:

  • Housing benefit or Council tax reduction
  • Income related employment and Support Allowance
  • Child tax rate higher than the family element
  • Working tax credit to include the disability or severe disability element
  • Universal Credit
  • Pension Credit
