Code of ethics

Anchor abides by the BACP (British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy) Ethical Framework, a copy of which can be found here.

BACP is the largest professional organisation for counselling and psychotherapy in the UK.

These ethics are based on values, principles and personal moral qualities that underpin and inform the interpretation and application of BACP's Commitment to Clients and Good Practice, this includes:

  • Respecting human rights and dignity
  • Alleviating symptoms of personal distress and suffering
  • Enhancing people's wellbeing and capabilities
  • Increasing personal resilience and effectiveness
  • Appreciating the variety of human experience and culture
  • Protecting the safety of clients
  • Being trustworthy
  • The fair and impartial treatment of all clients
  • Respect for the client's right to be self-governing
